Revitalised jewel in Tribeca: WertInvest Group receives double award for the ambitious restoration of the historic Hope Building in New York City

Amidst the fascinating skyline of New York City, a renovated building is shining in new splendour and has captured the hearts of experts and residents alike. The property at 131 Duane Street has been part of the WertInvest Group's portfolio since 2014.

Vienna, 13.12.2023 - The careful renovation of the building has not only restored its original splendour but has also won the most prestigious awards in the industry: In 2023, the New York Landmarks Conservancy will present the Hope Building with the Lucy G. Moses Preservation Award 2023, which has also been presented to the Empire State Building in recent years. The WertInvest Group's property development project was also recognised by the Victorian Society in America for its "exacting and meticulous exterior restoration".

"The historic building shines in new splendour, blending tradition and avant-garde in an enchanting way. Respect for the historic fabric and our commitment to the highest quality have always been at the heart of our work. We are delighted that the renovation of this historic building has been recognised by industry experts and has been awarded two prestigious prizes," says Sabine Teufl, responsible Asset Manager of the WertInvest Group.

The Gentle Renovation Awards were presented in recognition of the extraordinary efforts to transform the building into a contemporary, functional space while preserving its historical integrity. In particular, the judges praised the outstanding conservation work, precision and dedication of the team, who masterfully restored the intricate details of the architecture and original materials.

The historic 1862 building in the heart of Tribeca, New York's avant-garde architectural district, has undergone a meticulous restoration that has preserved the uniqueness and character of the original design. The meticulous process was led by a team of experienced architects, restorers and engineers, who worked closely with local authorities and historic preservation experts. Although the renovated building itself is not a landmark, it is a significant building in the Tribeca South Historic District, which set a very high bar for the restoration.

The name 'Hope' stands for Thomas Hope, a dry goods merchant who had the building constructed for his business in 1862, but never occupied it. Today the building houses a harmonious mix of modern apartments and commercial space. The striking marble façade underlines the successful combination of the charm and history of the place with the demands of modern living. Residents and tenants can look forward to a unique experience that embodies the unmistakable spirit of New York in every corner.
